In today’s world of plenty…plenty of public records that is, it is not that difficult to do an online search on a site like Intelius.com or Peoplefinders.com to find information, fact or otherwise, about a person. Records such as marriage certificates, death certificates and more are considered public records by every state. While information such as addresses and phone numbers are not considered public records, these things can get out there and end up on some of these large people search sites.
What DeleteMe does is to delete subscriber’s information from more than fifty websites like Intelius.com, Peoplefinders.com and Whitepages.com, to name a few. They also monitor the sites to make sure that information doesn’t show up again and that the person’s “online privacy” is maintained. Removing your personal information once it is online is not easy. As made apparent by the fact that there is now a business that will do this for you.
Apparently these people search sites require “special procedures” to remove the information; procedures that require knowing the terms of use, privacy policies etc. It is no wonder the California Judges Association is utilizing this new service. With all this personal information online, people like judges whose job is, I would say, fairly controversial, might be a little concerned that someone could find private information about them; information such as a home address and seek them out.
DeleteMe and the California Judges Association’s “exclusive partnership” seems to be very beneficial to both sides. I just hope DeleteMe’s service is as air-tight as it seems, as I’m sure the California Judges Association wouldn’t be too happy should any information be discovered about a member online.
Just in case you’re interested, DeleteMe is available for $99 or $129 for a one year subscription, depending on which part of their site you land on first. Go to the main site for the $129 subscription plan. Or, you can go to a for the $99 plan (seems the less expensive page is down for now). Seems kind of sleazy to me that they would offer the same service at two different prices, but hey, now you know.
